Hypnosis has long been recognized as a way to get people to subconsciously change a person's behavior or actions. Hypnosis is a way to gain a measure of control over another person's thoughts. This type of hypnosis often used as a technique by sales people or others trying to persuade a person to buy a product or service, or make a decision that the hypnotist intends.

Techniques of Conversational Hypnosis

When trying to convince someone of your opinions, or trying to gain compliance from another person, conversational hypnosis can be used-often appearing to be the "power of suggestion." Once a strong rapport and trust is established in a relationship or interaction, using some techniques of conversational hypnosis, indirect suggestions become more powerful.

Differences Between Conversational Hypnosis and Covert Hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis differs from more direct forms of hypnosis, such as covert hypnosis, because during traditional covert hypnosis, the person being hypnotized is often seeking the help of the professional hypnotist, such as to quit smoking, lose weight, or correct some other behavior they are seeking to change. The hypnotist using conversational hypnosis is often utilizing some techniques to make a change they desire themselves or establish a degree of mind control over the person being hypnotized without them knowing.

Conversational hypnosis requires the hypnotist to be aware of and have intentions that will cause a person to act or behave in a certain manner.
