Emotions - Just A Nuisance Or Actually Useful? Find Out The Benefits And How To Read Them

Hello and welcome to the "Doorway to Consciousness". Today we get to look at how we know that we are on the desired path in our life. Looking at the title of this chapter it has to do with feelings, but let's take one step at the time.

How good are we with reading street signs? Maybe this question gets a different meaning these days when looking at how much we already rely on a GPS when driving from point A to point B, and probably many don't even have a map anymore. Nonetheless we do become suspicious when seeing a sign along the road that indicates that we are in fact driving into the opposite direction. Naturally we turn around and correct it right away, but what about our life? Once we find out that we are not on the desired path, do we change it as consequently as we would when driving from point A to B?

We get off track quite easily without noticing at first since we tend to oversee the best indication we really have: our emotions! They are the mental instrument that helps determine if the objectives of our goal we have established actually are the ones we want, because an emotion is the indicator for what we are in harmony with. The moment we begin to understand the importance of our emotions we decide to be in harmony with acceptance, self-assurance, peacefulness and love, and consciously be aware of that this is then what we are inviting into our life. The whole issue really is about alignment with our path and ultimately our purpose in life, and we are given this tool to determine whether we are still on track.

What is it that could hold us up, maybe that our boss tells us what we are good at? Or our teachers, parents, best friends? Chances are that those people, though meaning well, are obsessed with conformity rather than creativity and simply want to avoid thinking about their own lives. After all we are here to life our own dream and purpose. We are all unique and are an individualized, phenomenal expression of life! To find our gift in life and what we are resonating with we simply want to carefully observe our own feelings. Once we feel that we are in alignment with our path, we get visions, which then lead to the goals that suit us.

The moment we get to feel the need for change in direction, may that be out of a feeling of anxiety, worry or anger, we want to determine what belief, thought, choice, or action brought us there and correct it. Once we feel good again we know we are back on track. And remember, those beliefs, thoughts, choices and actions are coming from us alone, which leaves us to be the sole person to be capable and in charge of correcting it. Emotions, as much as they are repressed for whatever reasons in many a culture, are a natural part of the orderly universe we live in. And once we are following this inbuilt warning and guidance system we get to see how things are falling miraculously into place.

But what about all those emotions from past events that sit deep in our memories, embedded in our subconscious mind, only waiting to emerge and repeat patterns? We all know that even just the memory of a wonderful meeting we just had recently, or even quite some time ago, has a physiological effect on us independently from the time that it actually happened. Make the test and think about the first time you fell in love, or any other great moment in your life. How does it feel for you now? It's as real a feeling as it was then, and that counts for all memories! And owing to the fact that they are stored on a cellular level, we know that especially destructive images are worth the while to be looked at a bit closer. The following simple but very powerful exercise from NLP speeds up any healing process you are currently going through: make a list of all emotions associated with a current issue, problem or challenge, one that you have chosen to take care of. Remember, emotions come with images, which makes them easier to find. Now go back in time and find the earliest memory connected to that same feeling. That can be a moment in your life or a period, or even an imagined fear. Once found recall as many a detail as you can, which may be smell, taste, sounds, sensations, people, places and so on, and give the feeling a rating on a scale of one to ten (ten being the worst). Now imagine yourself to sit in the movie theater and while sitting in the first row you watch this very scene. Go back a few rows and watch it again, until you have reached the last row. Time to go into the projector room (you have unlimited access, it's your movie!). Change the movie to your like, e.g. give everyone a funny voice, fancy costumes if you like, and change colors and music, etc., everything you wish is available. Reel it back and do it again, maybe this time change the actors into funny looking animals. After you have done this 3 or 4 times take the film reel off the projector and put it into the shelf behind you. Take out a new movie, read the description on the film reel and watch that you take one you really like! Let the movie play, big colorful, full of life, and check your previous feelings again. Most likely the rating is now one, or even zero, so you can go back now to the front row, you can even jump right into the new movie and play the main actor/actress. Done!

Making a buried emotion conscious is already a powerful step in itself, but changing it also changes everything on the cellular level, and you can do this as often as you like. And what's even better, you can read now the signs of your internal map too!

You may ask now though rightfully, how to avoid storing a negative emotion the very moment they are experienced? The instant correction is the solution: owing to the possibility that the negative emotion right then has a strong hold on you, allow yourself to take 3 very deep breaths and focus on a thought that you like, something that makes you feel good. Match the emotion to the thought and hold it in your mind for a minute, and if that may be too long, depending on the circumstances, just hold it as long as you can. This is an immediate energy shift and allows you to avoid piling anything up. This is easy you say? Well, then make it a habit and enjoy the results, because as of now you have started to deliberately create your life the way you wish.

Happy thinking, and remember, you are unlimited by nature!

Be well,

Michael
